We are a local church of Jesus Christ that exists to love God through worship and love people through fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and witnessing.
You can look at our Statement of Faith.
We believe that God’s vision for Calvary Baptist Church is for the congregation to have an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- We want to truly know His presence in our daily lives and live for His glory.
- We want to eagerly gather to join in sincere worship of Him.
- We want to reflect His love and care throughout our surrounding community.
- We want our community to see and celebrate His work in their midst.
Calvary Baptist Church is affiliated with Converge Worldwide and Converge MidAtlantic – a movement of leaders and churches working together to transform lives and communities through the life changing story of Jesus Christ. The Converge movement, among other things, starts new churches and strengthens churches across our region and around the world.
A small group of Swedish immigrants living in Warren in 1890 joined to form the First Swedish Baptist Church of Warren. (The Baptist General Conference was originally made up of Swedish Baptist.) In 1932, the name was changed to Calvary Baptist Church. The first church building was located at the corner of Redwood and Center streets in Warren, but it burned to the ground in 1957. Four years later the first service was held in the present building on Conewango Avenue. Continuing for over a century, Calvary Baptist holds to the unchanging Word of God while seeking to meet the ever-changing needs of our community, looking forward to Christ’s return.
